One outdoor model. Several rated systems.
An outdoor model number is the starting point. The source configuration tells you which other components belong with its rating.
Read a configuration from left to right
- Find the exact outdoor model number or source model pattern.
- Open the matched systems table and find the indoor model string.
- Check whether the row also names a required furnace. Keep that component with the configuration.
- Read SEER2 and HSPF2 from that same row. Use its EPA record link to inspect every original field.
- Add that row to comparison. The comparison keeps the record ID and components visible.
ENERGY STAR distinguishes split systems, which have separate assemblies, from single-package equipment with the major assemblies together. See the official equipment definitions. Our catalog allows an explicitly reported single-package system without a separate indoor model.
When indoor units are not listed
EPA permits multi-split submissions without individual indoor model numbers. These rows are labeled as outdoor-model ratings; they do not establish a complete indoor match. Some manufacturer-documented kits include both units but provide no separate component identifiers. Open the source record for the scope and any supporting installation guide.
Why the same model appears more than once
The EPA heat pump dataset can contain multiple component combinations for one outdoor model. HVACModels groups these records into one model page without merging their individual ratings. The table is ordered by SEER2, then record ID; its first row is not a recommended installation.
Asterisks, suffixes and multi-unit strings
We preserve the model text supplied by the source, including wildcards. We do not expand an asterisk into guessed retail models, remove suffixes, or split a multi-unit string into presumed interchangeable components. Search results help find a record; they do not establish compatibility for an unlisted match.
EPA record and AHRI reference
The EPA record ID identifies the imported row. The AHRI reference is a separate field reported in that row. HVACModels has not independently retrieved an AHRI certificate, so those two identifiers are labeled separately. If a component or reference is unclear, follow the source link and verify the complete configuration with the manufacturer or installer.
